Born and raised in New York City, Estee Lauder launched her cosmetics company in her home city in 1935. After obtaining her own counter space in the legendary department store Saks Fifth Avenue, she developed a range of skin creams and fragrances that would prove to be a big hit, particularly with Lauder’s famous friends. Today, the Estee Lauder company owns 27 beauty, perfume and fragrance brands, and retails in over 120 countries worldwide.
